JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita asked the Jakarta High School of Industrial Management (STMI) Polytechnic to participate in developing the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

Minister of Industry Agus said that STMI polytechnic students as the younger generation are capital for the development of the industrial sector in the future, especially for the automotive industry whose development potential is very wide.

"The existence of you as students of the STMI Jakarta Polytechnic is part of the automotive industry development ecosystem through the provision of work competencies needed by the automotive industry," Agus said in a written statement, quoted Wednesday, August 30.

The STMI Jakarta Polytechnic itself is an industrial vocational college under the auspices of the Industry Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry which has automotive related study programs, such as Automotive Industrial Engineering, Automotive Industry Information System, Automotive Business Administration, Polymer Chemical Engineering, and Automotive Engineering Technology.

The polytechnic enthusiasts are quite high. In 2023, there were 3781 registrants through the Industrial Vocational Revenue Line (JARVIS) with only 400 people received.

Therefore, Agus gave his appreciation to the Jakarta STMI Polytechnic for increasing the capacity of new student admissions this year, and the Head of BPSDMI who has consistently implemented the target of increasing the number of students and students of the Ministry of Industry's vocational students.

"I entrust the development of human resources to the Director of STMI Jakarta Polytechnic, so that the education and silabus programs are adjusted to industrial development programs, especially automotive," said Agus.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry Masrokhan said that the STMI Jakarta Polytechnic seeks to produce superior automotive industry human resources and is ready to face industry 4.0.

"The Ministry of Industry has implemented a concrete 4.0 technology curriculum in learning. Thus, the user industry, which graduated from STMI, has qualified graduates who have been equipped with Industry 4.0 competencies," he said.

The STMI Jakarta Polytechnic is known to have established international cooperation regarding the implementation of industry 4.0 on campus through the LeMMI 4.0 Program. This program is one of the results of the collaboration between the Ministry of Industry and The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) Japan.

This program was developed with Lexer Research and Fuso Machine Works to organize and simulate production and manufacturing.

The presence of the STMI Jakarta Polytechnic as an automotive industry polytechnic has received attention from abroad.

STMI Jakarta Polytechnic Director Mustofa said, in addition to cooperation with Japan, the Ministry of Industry is being directed to participate in the root technology cooperation program from the Government of the Republic of Korea.

"These activities have strengthened the confidence of the Jakarta STMI Polytechnic by being able to play a role in building national automotive industry human resources," he concluded.
