Most Advanced In Indonesia, Pertamina Ready To Build An Environmentally Friendly Energy Terminal In Kalibaru

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) will build the most advanced and environmentally friendly energy terminal in Indonesia called the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal. This terminal will later be located in Kalibaru, North Jakarta.

Pertamina's Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development, A. Salyadi Saputra explained, this terminal is bigger and more modern than Plumpang's Integrated Fuel Terminal (TBBM).

"This term will later support national energy security, and will be in the Kalibaru area, North Jakarta," he told the media, Tuesday, August 8. Furthermore, Salyadi added, the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal will not only accommodate fuels such as LPG, BBM, Gasoline, and Biodiesel but is also designed to accommodate LNG, CPO, UCO (Used Cooking Oil), and petrochemicals. It can even accommodate Hydrogen, which is expected to grow demand in 2030.

"Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal is designed to be the energy terminal with the best operational standards in its class with the application of the latest technology and the best scale of flexibility to meet energy needs in the Jabodetabek area," said Salyadi.

Pertamina, said Salyadi, mandated PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) as the Sub Holding Integrated Marine Logistics which has been focusing on managing strategic energy terminals, to work on and develop the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal.

PIS CEO Yoki Firnandi explained further that preparations for the construction of the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal have been underway, where the initial study of the development of this new terminal concept has been completed.

The Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal is planned to be built in an area developed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) in the Kalibaru area, North Jakarta. The location, which is located on the edge of the sea, has an area of 64 hectares and is projected to have a storage capacity of up to 6 million barrels.

The next stage, PIS in coordination with Pelindo will begin to prepare a feasibility study for the construction of the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal. Terminal construction is planned based on calculations of national energy needs which will continue to increase and vary more over the next few years.

This location is considered quite strategic and can become the gateway for the energy trading ecosystem through the Singapore - Indonesia corridor which has a portion of 30 percent-35 percent of the global trade flow for oil and LNG.

This terminal is also a pioneer who includes ESG factors and the concept of carbon neutral in development, starting from the construction stage to operations. From a technology perspective, this terminal also implements a digital system that will make its management more modern and efficient. We will install the best technology so that this terminal is operated with the best standards, efficient, safe, reliable, and of course lower emissions," concluded Yoki.
