PT PLN (Persero) through the Riau and Riau Islands Distribution Main Unit (UID RKR) distributed Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) with a total of 493 units or the equivalent of 493 Megawatt hour (MWh) to PT United Tractors Pekanbaru.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that REC is one of PLN's green product innovations in opening up customers' opportunities to participate in reducing emissions. In addition, it makes it easier for customers to get recognition of the international use of EBT.

"Through REC, customers can also participate in reducing emissions, converting from dirty energy to environmentally friendly energy. We are committed to providing clean energy (green electricity) to support the creation of green industry in Indonesia," Darmawan explained, Saturday, July 22.

Darmawan also added that REC is a PLN product offered to all communities and companies that support the creation of clean energy. This step is in an effort to achieve the carbon emission reduction target towards Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060.

Head of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Division of PT United Tractors, Sara K. Loebis said, the cooperation of PLN's REC services is the company's effort to support the energy transition. In addition, this collaboration aims to have a positive impact, as well as realize the goals of sustainable development or Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).

"As one of the corporate transition strategies in the energy sector, the collaboration carried out with PLN in the EBT sector can act as a connector of the energy and information industry in Indonesia, as well as realizing energy transition initiatives that can contribute to environmental sustainability," said Sara.

General Manager of PLN UID RKR Agung Murdifi explained, one unit of REC is equivalent to 1 MWh of new renewable energy electricity. That way, PT United Tractors Pekanbaru has contributed to using green electricity.

"We are committed to being ready to meet all customer needs, including preparing electricity sourced from EBT. We are ready to support the collaboration of various parties to reduce world carbon emissions, including one of them with United Tractors," said Agung.
