JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif is optimistic that the potential for new and renewable energy (EBT) can be optimized to support national energy security. This includes efforts related to achieving the target of the EBT mix.

This was conveyed in the Indonesia EBTKE Conference and Exhibition (ConEx) 2023, Wednesday, July 12. Minister Arifin also emphasized that all EBT sources in Indonesia can be utilized, including building supporting infrastructure to channel all potential.

Among them is the potential for EBT, which comes from solar, bayu (wind), hydro, bioenergy, geothermal, and sea energy. The total potential is estimated to reach 3,689 gigawatts (GW).

"We can use all new renewable energy sources if we can build supporting infrastructure, infrastructure that can distribute all potential sources to be utilized," said Arifin.

Arifin explained, Indonesia is targeting the achievement of the energy mix in 2030. With a target of achieving zero emissions in 2060. In fact, this target has been programmed well, so various extra efforts are needed in the future.

Furthermore, Arifin said the government also has several policies to encourage the use of EBT, one of which is through the Draft New Energy Law (RUU EBET). This effort will later become the main basis for Indonesia to be able to make the energy transition faster.

"Later it will facilitate business in the EBT sector, then we can also take advantage of existing resources," said Arifin Tasrif.

The spirit of accelerating the energy transition is the discussion of leaders in the 2023 ConEx EBTKE. One of them is the Memorandum of Understanding between PT PLN (Persero) and the Astra Group.

The cooperation between PLN and PT Astra International Tbk (Astra) is to accelerate the clean energy transition. Namely, through the installation of Roof PLTS and the development of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.

The agreement between PLN and Astra includes a cooperation plan for the development of the Green Energy program, the exchange of knowledge and development of the Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle (KBLBB) ecosystem. Also, the provision of Roof PLTS and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) services as a form of commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

PLN and Astra are also committed to supporting the acceleration of the use of EBT through the installation of Roof PLTS in 94 locations spread across Indonesia with a total capacity of 10.94 megawatt peak (MWp).

On this occasion, PLN together with PT Astra Otoparts Tbk (Astra Otoparts) also collaborated in the form of developing the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) in Indonesia. This collaboration is Astra Otoparts' first step to strengthen existence in the electrification ecosystem.

Astra, through its subsidiary, PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN), also entrusts the provision of a 37.3 MWp Roof PLTS to PLN through PT Indonesia Comnets Plus (PLN Icon Plus) as a partner that will ensure the availability of Roof PLTS services, good licensing procedures, operational maintenance, and integrated applications to meet the needs of the Astra Group Roof PLTS.

EPN with PLN Icon Plus agreed to develop the implementation of the solar photovoltaic (PV) Rooftop in Indonesia to support the achievement of the target of the EBT mix of 23 percent by 2025. Namely, through the provision of a comprehensive PV Rooftop performance monitoring system and optimizing the installed PV Rooftop capacity.
