JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) together with Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir and Director of Retail and Commerce of PLN Edi Srimulyanti witnessed the signing of a collaboration between Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) and FulRUM Consortium regarding the development of electric vehicle battery technology in Hong Kong.

Erick revealed that the Indonesian government is very serious about encouraging companies in the country to go global.

According to him, establishing a global level partnership will play an important role in Indonesia's economic growth and build a solid foundation for domestic companies in the future of the global economy.

"Over the years we have witnessed the extraordinary progress and achievements of our domestic and international market. This extraordinary achievement can be seen from Indonesia's growing net profit and State Owned Enterprises (SOE) consolidation," he said.

PLN's Retail and Commerce Director Edi Srimulyanti said this collaboration was a strategic step to build an electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.

"They already have the technology, especially to produce electric vehicle batteries. So, from this partnership we can develop the technology," he said.

Through collaboration with Fulcum, IBC is expected to develop and become a world-class battery company. So that Indonesia, which has the majority of raw materials for electric vehicle batteries, can be maximized.

"PLN is one of the shareholders in IBC. This collaboration is PLN's step to continue to provide infrastructure so that electric vehicle users are more comfortable, because the battery infrastructure and charging are sufficient, then the battery exchange place is also increasing," explained Edi.

IBC President Director Toto Nugroho responded that the IBC partnership with Fultur was not only strategic in terms of technology, but also the EV business arrangement. From this collaboration, there will be many opportunities for investment in the energy business chain, especially electric vehicles.

"This opens up our great opportunity to explore battery resources, the majority of which Indonesia has. This partnership is very strategic because we need collaboration in technology and China has developed it for years," Toto concluded.
