The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR has rolled out a Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program known as Home Renovation as many as 1,212 units of Uninhabitable Houses (RTLH), in 2023.

The assistance was distributed in nine districts and one city with a budget allocation of Rp. 23.5 million to Rp. 40 million for each unit depending on regional conditions.

The Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, said that in the implementation of the BSPS program, the government distributed stimulant funds by forming community groups and receiving assistance from Field Facilitators (TFL).

"We want the construction of livable houses to be felt by all Indonesian people, including in West Papua Province," said Iwan in a written statement, Monday, June 5.

In detail, the BSPS program in 2023 was distributed in Sorong City (236 units), Manokwari Regency (88 units), Sorong Regency (45 units), South Sorong Regency (108 units), and Teluk Wondama Regency (43 units).

Then, South Manokwari Regency (48 units), Arfak Mountains (50 units), Bintuni Bay (23 units), Fak-fak (80 units), and Raja Ampat (50 units).

Meanwhile, Head of the Papua II Housing Provision II Center (P2P) of the Directorate General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR Ridwan Dibya Sudharta said the people of West Papua welcomed the BSPS program that had been distributed by the Ministry of PUPR from year to year.

"We hope that through this BSPS program, uninhabitable houses in West Papua can be reduced," he added.
