IMF: Indonesia's Economy Is Far Above The Average World Growth

JAKARTA - Implementing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalinaturva said, Indonesia recorded economic growth far above the world's average growth and was still well maintained amidst uncertainty.

"In the midst of a world economic situation that is colored by many uncertainties, the Indonesian economy is quite good and stable with economic growth far above the world's economic growth average," said Kristalina in a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on the sidelines of the G7 Summit series in Hiroshima, Japan, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 20.

President Jokowi said that the Indonesian economy is expected to grow 5.1 percent in 2023 and 5 percent in 2024. In the first quarter of 2023, Indonesia recorded 5.03 percent economic growth (yoy).

Seeing this, the IMF hopes that Indonesia can participate in providing assistance to other developing countries.

"IMF hopes that Indonesia's assistance to other developing countries, especially in the field of poverty alleviation," said Kristalina.

During the meeting, the IMF Managing Director also expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's success in running the G20 presidency in 2022 and the success of holding the 42nd ASEAN Summit this year.

"Congratulations on Indonesia's success in running the G20 presidency last year and also for the implementation of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo," said Kristalina.

Also accompanying the President in this meeting were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi.
