JAKARTA - After a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, President Joko Widodo discussed with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at the Grand Prince Hotel, Hiroshima, Japan, Saturday, May 20.

In this meeting, Jokowi expressed his appreciation for the realization of a number of new and renewable energy projects (EBT).

Some of the EBT projects were carried out by the UK through partnership cooperation entitled "Towards the Low Carbon Energy Transition in Indonesia" (MENTARI) which has realized the construction of solar power plants (PLTS) in Sumba, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), as well as hydro power plants in Lombok (NTB), Titab (Bali), and Batang Hari (West Sumatra).

The Head of State also appreciated the grant of around 11 million US dollars given by the UK for the development of sustainable transportation in several Indonesian cities.

"I hope it can be expanded in other cities, including the capital city of the archipelago," Jokowi said as quoted from a statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta.

President Jokowi told PM Sunak that the UK should quickly realize its commitment to "Just Energy Transition Partnership", the development of an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, including the supply of battery cells and the construction of an EV micro factory, as well as investments in IKN development, transportation, green energy, and education.

President Jokowi had emphasized the need to avoid discriminatory policies in order to increase trade cooperation between the Republic of Indonesia and Britain.

The President also conveyed that Indonesia's efforts to facilitate humanitarian assistance through the AHA Center so that the "Joint Needs Assessment" in Myanmar can be completed.

"The five-point consensus will remain the main reference in resolving the Myanmar conflict and the AHA Center is working to distribute humanitarian aid. This requires international support, including the UK," Jokowi said, as quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, PM Sunak at the meeting congratulated President Jokowi on the Indonesian Presidency at the G20.
