JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is targeting derivative regulations after the issuance of PP Number 11 of 2023 concerning the measurable fishing policy (PIT) to be completed this year.

The derivative rules include ministerial regulations and ministerial decisions as technical guidelines for implementing PIT, such as the mechanism for determining quotas.

"We are trying this year. We hope that, right, that the leadership's mandate will be completed soon," said KKP Fisheries Port Director Tri Aris Wibowo when met by reporters, Thursday, May 4.

Tri Aris said the government's target of the PIT policy was related to governance against arrests, as well as governance of fish resources in Indonesia based on sustainable ecology.

"If you catch as much as possible, then the quality is low, it's a loss, because it's withdrawn by PNBP post-production. If the quality is low, the price is low, yes, it's a loss," he said.

"So, it is hoped (with the PIT policy) that business actors will catch selective, good, and high quality. So, we can make a profit from it. On the other hand, business continuity and resource sustainability are maintained," added Tri Aris.

However, he has not been able to target an exact schedule regarding the issuance of derivative rules from PP Number 11 of 2023 concerning the PIT Policy.

"Immediately I don't know exactly, but we hope it will be fast, because we are involved (in cooperation) with other ministries/agencies in the preparation," concluded Tri Haris.

Previously, the measurable fishing policy (PIT) was officially promulgated through Government Regulation (PP) Number 11 of 2023 which was issued on March 6, 2023.

This regulation consists of nine chapters and 28 articles that include general provisions, zones, base ports, administrative sanctions, and closing provisions.

Until now, the KKP is still preparing derivative rules after the issuance of PP Number 11 of 2023 concerning the PIT Policy. This derivative rule includes ministerial regulations and ministerial decisions as technical guidelines for implementing PIT, such as the mechanism for determining quotas.
