JAKARTA - Pertamina ensured that the Tuban Refinery after being rocked by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 was safe.

Corporate Secretary of PT Refinery Pertamina Internasional Hermansyah Y. Nasroen in his short message ensured that the refinery was safe even though it was rocked by an earthquake.

"Alhamdulillah, the report from the location of the refinery is safe," he said briefly, Friday, April 14.

He also ensured that the earthquake that occurred did not affect the refinery production process because the vibrations felt were only a few.

"God willing, it will be safe. Only a few (vibrations)," he concluded.

Previously, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 occurred in the Java Sea, precisely 68 km northwest of Tuban, East Java.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 6.31 degrees South Latitude; 111.96 degrees East Longitude, or precisely located in the sea at a distance of 65 km northwest of Tuban City, East Java at a depth of 643 km.

From the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a type of deep earthquake due to the deformation activity of the slab pull on the Indo-Australian plate which was subducted under the Java Sea.

The results of the analysis of the source mechanism show that the earthquake has a downward movement mechanism (normal fault).
