Imported Buffalo Meat From India 18,000 Tons Arrived In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Public Logistics Affairs Agency (Perum Bulog) received the arrival of 18,000 tons of imported frozen buffalo with the brand ALM at the New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT 1), Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, today.

President Director of Perum Bulog Budi Waseso said that this imported frozen buffalo meat is to meet national meat stock spare parts to meet domestic needs, especially ahead of Eid Al-Fitr or Eid Al-Fitr 2023.

Buwas, Budi Waseso's nickname, said that the arrival of 18,000 tons of meat was part of the government's assignment to Bulog to import 100,000 tons of frozen buffalo by December 2023.

Furthermore, Buwas said the arrival of imported frozen buffalo meat was an alternative choice for consumers in fulfilling the availability of meat and maintaining the stabilization of meat prices at the consumer level.

"The arrival of imported meat stocks by Bulog is very much needed to answer the problem of meat availability which is experiencing an upward trend in demand during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr," he said at the location, Wednesday, April 12.

"For this reason, we directly monitor the arrival of imported meat by Bulog and I also ask that it be distributed directly and prioritized for consumers directly," he continued.

Buwas said, with the current stock of frozen buffalo meat controlled by Bulog, it is hoped that it can help overcome the need for a surge in demand for frozen meat so that people do not need to worry.

"We have made the best possible arrangements and acceleration for the process of arrival of this imported meat stock, then with the cold storage facilities and infrastructure network owned by Bulog, this stock has been directly distributed throughout Indonesia so that people can immediately get it at an affordable price," he explained.

Buwas said Bulog had collaborated with business actors including modern retailers. He said, the meat can reach consumers at a price of Rp. 85,000 to Rp. 90,000 per kilogram (kg).

"We have collaborated with at least 11 parties who will distribute this imported meat. It is sold in 1 kg and will not run to industry," he said.
