Sri Mulyani's Explanation In The House Of Representatives Regarding Customs 'Hot Gold' IDR 189 Trillion

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said, there was one letter from the PPATK containing the company's operational credit debt transaction (corporation) with the largest transaction of IDR 189 trillion related to the duties and functions of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.

According to the Minister of Finance, the information was contained in the PPATK letter to the Ministry of Finance with the number SR-205.

It was stated that this suspicious transaction of IDR 189 trillion involved export activities.

"Based on intelligence analysis and surveillance activities in the field, on January 21, 2016 Customs and Excise made arrests (actions) on gold exports through cargo at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, which was carried out by PT X," he said at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta on Tuesday, April 11.

Sri Mulyani said there was a discrepancy between the gold documents attached to the reality in the field. For this matter, an investigation was carried out until it was brought to court.

"The process in court is rolling, from the district court to the Supreme Court with the final decision of the individual perpetrators to release themselves from all lawsuits. Then the final verdict against the corporate perpetrators was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of Rp. 500 million," he said.

Based on the judicial process, continued the Minister of Finance, Customs and Excise and PPATK conducted an in-depth investigation of affiliated related companies.

Then also steps were taken to tighten and supervise gold imports through the red route (open but vulnerable).

The Customs and Excise followed up by analyzing the entity of the agency's taxpayer related to customs. The total analysis of the Goods Import Notification (PIB) and Goods Export Notification (PEB) reached approximately Rp. 18 trillion.

Previously at the end of March, Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) Suahasil Nazara had revealed that the total gold charged was around 218 kg of gold with a foreign exchange value of 6.8 million US dollars.
