Deputy Authority Calls Political Issues Not An Obstacle To IKN Development

JAKARTA - Deputy Head of the IKN Authority, Dhony Rahajoe, ensured that various political issues related to the 2024 general election (Pemilu) and the change of president would not affect the development of IKN Nusantara.

Dhony said that this optimism was present because he saw IKN as a project with vision and mission as well as progress that guaranteed its sustainability.

"If the concepts and implementation are in accordance with the mandate of the law to build the growth center, the politics will not be seen," Dhony told reporters at the DPR RI Building, on Monday, April 3.

He believes that the construction of a new city will not see who and what kind of president or political principles are held. Provided, the development has a strong concept, a good market confidence, there are differentiations, a safe environment, and qualified infrastructure.

Moreover, IKN has a captive market that has been formed since the beginning of development. As is known, the government is currently working on plans to transfer 16,990 State Civil Apparatus (ASN) to IKN in 2024.

"This means that the market confidence is actually good. People will look for a comfortable place to live, investment, cheaper prices, the toll road is already there, the land is there, (development) is finished," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) explained that to meet other residential needs, 9,295 units were planned to be built through the KPBU scheme with an estimated cost of Rp. 35.8 trillion.

In addition, for the construction of 5,110 units of government-owned flats, it is necessary to invite private investment or housing developers with an estimated cost of IDR 6.2 trillion. Thus, the total cost required to build 16,990 ASN housing units reached IDR 51.4 trillion.
