JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) ensures that lift activities at Pertamina Dumai Refinery run safely and smoothly.

This step was taken in anticipation of the explosion that occurred at the Dumai Refinery on Saturday, April 1.

"Although the incident occurred at the Dumai refinery, which is a downstream activity, because the upstream oil and gas that distributed oil to the refinery, it is necessary to immediately ensure that there are no obstacles that can disrupt the distribution of oil to refineries which have a direct impact on national oil lifting," said Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto quoted Tuesday, April 4.

Regarding this incident, Dwi has also expressed his concern and expressed his hopes and support so that the situation can recover (recovery).

In the future, the Head of SKK Migas hopes that comprehensive analysis can be carried out so that it does not happen again, both at the Dumai oil refinery itself and at other refineries.

"SKK Migas has also taken steps to anticipate the impacts related to operations upstream of oil and gas in connection with these events. Technical functions in the central oil and gas SKK and SKK Migas representatives of North Sumatra (Sumbagut) as well as Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) who supply oil to Dumai Refinery have taken further steps to ensure that there are no obstacles in lifting and upstream oil and gas operations continue as usual," said Dwi.

Dwi informed that SKK Migas had coordinated with the Dumai International Pertamina Refinery (KPI) to ensure that lifting activities run smoothly and safely, including the time of the incident where a temporary suspension was carried out for loading/transfers for 6 hours 30.

However, starting at 05.20 WIB on April 2, 2023, loading/transfer activities will run normally again.

SKK Migas has also dispatched personnel to carry out direct inspections to the field and can be conveyed that the latest developments on loading lines for lifting at the Dumai Refinery belonging to the PHR Rokan KKKS were not affected and all were in good condition.

"The suspension of loading/transfer is only temporary in connection with temporary shutdown and after it is confirmed that the entire process is safe, the loading will continue as usual and with stricter supervision to anticipate the possibility of further impacts," said Dwi.

Dwi added that SKK Migas maintains that the lifting process at the Dumai Refinery runs safely and smoothly.

This is to ensure that the lifting target can be met to support the fulfillment of national energy needs and ensure that state revenues can be maintained optimally.

Dwi said that SKK Migas had compiled mitigation steps to anticipate if in the future there were adjustments in the distribution of oil to the Dumai refinery, namely by making several other options for distributing upstream oil so that oil lifting could still be carried out smoothly.
