Starting May 2023, Flying To Malaysia Can Be From Kertajati Airport

JAKARTA - Kertajati Airport will serve the Kertajati (KJT)-Kuala Lumpur (KUL) round-trip flight starting next May. This flight is operated by AirAsia Berhard Airlines.

The Kertajati (KJT)-Kuala Lumpur (KUL) route is scheduled to operate twice a week from 17 May to 25 October 2023.

The operation of international routes at the airport located in Majalengka, West Java is based on a letter of stipulation of the Implementation of the Foreign Aviation Route issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ditjen Hubud) of the Ministry of Transportation on Thursday, March 30.

Director General of Civil Aviation, M. Kristi Endah Murni welcomed this. He hopes that in the future more airlines and flight routes will be served at Kertajati Airport.

"This is a sign that the Indonesian aviation industry, especially overseas routes, has started to recover since the COVID-19 pandemic," Kristi said in an official statement, Friday, March 31.

Kristi appealed during the flight to AirAsia Berhard to continue to comply with applicable safety rules regarding flight safety and security and implement applicable health protocols.

"In addition to safety and security aspects, services to passengers must also be considered starting from pre-flight, in-flight, and post flight," he said.

Later, continued Kristi, the Directorate General of Hubud will evaluate flight realization and periodic use of slot time during the Summer 2023 period.

"We will continue to coordinate with PT. Angkasa Pura II, Perum Indonesian Aviation Navigation Service Implementation Agency (LPPNPI), and Regional I Airport Authority Office, to carry out supervision in its implementation," Kristi said.

Kristi is looking at the opening of international flights at Kertajati Airport to increase the tourism sector and grow the economy in West Java.
