JAKARTA - PT Multidaya Teknologi Nusantara (eFishery) has contributed to providing income to the state of up to more than IDR 3 trillion for GDP in the Indonesian accultural sector in 2022.

This is known based on a study conducted by the Demographic Institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (LD FEB UI) regarding the positive impact of the eFishery platform on the economy and development of the acultural industry in Indonesia, including for cultivators.

"Based on the results of our research, the eFishery ecosystem contributed IDR 3.4 trillion or equivalent to 1.55 percent of Indonesia's aquatic sector GDP in 2022," said Deputy Head of LD FEB UI Paksi C. K. Walandouw to reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 29.

Paksi said that his party found an increase in standard of living, business, and productivity of fish cultivators and shrimp farmers through technology adoption, after joining the eFishery ecosystem.

To date, the eFishery ecosystem is known to have been used by more than 70,000 cultivators in 280 cities/districts in Indonesia.

"This number increases every year in line with the open potential for the development of fish and shrimp cultivation in Indonesia," said Paksi.

Related to this, Paksi has also detailed the results of research conducted by his party and showed that the eFishery ecosystem provides an increase in the average turnover per month for fish cultivators and shrimp farmers which are seen on a scale.

He gave an example, for small business scale, there was an increase in turnover per month by 1.7 percent (from Rp. 63.8 million to Rp. 64.9 million).

Meanwhile, the medium operating scale increased by a maximum of 24.7 percent or IDR 123.1 million (from IDR 499.3 million to IDR 622.4 million) after joining the eFishery.

"Business income in the acultural sector has also increased after joining eFishery," he said.

Not only that, Paksi continued, based on the classification of the number of workers, the average operating income in the medium, large, and small sectors was most affected after joining the eFishery.

The medium segment with the number of workers from 20 to 100 people grew significantly by more than 88.7 percent.

Meanwhile, large segments (above 100 workers) and small segments (5 to 20 workers) on average experienced revenue growth of more than 21.5 percent and 1.2 percent.

On the same occasion, eFishery CEO Gibran Huzaifah said that his party would be committed to contributing and developing the acultural industry in Indonesia along with cultivators, as well as other stakeholders.

Gibran claimed that his party has helped fish cultivators in various regions by providing access to more affordable quality feed, connecting them with financial institutions supervised by the OJK, and creating fish sales stall platforms, so that they can sell their crops on time at the best price.

"Through this research, we can see firsthand the significant progress of our ideals. We are very happy that 76.5 percent of fish cultivators and shrimp farmers are optimistic about advancing their business in the future with eFishery," he said.

"Through technology, we hope to do better for farmers in Indonesia to grow up with eFishery," he concluded.
