After The Earthquake, Permanent Residential Development In Central Sulawesi Is Speeded Up In December 2023

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has accelerated efforts to recover infrastructure damage after the earthquake accompanied by a tsunami and liquefaction that occurred in the Central Sulawesi area, on September 28, 2018, one of which was through the construction of permanent housing (huntap) which was intended for affected communities.

Head of the Sulawesi II Housing Provision Implementation Center (BP2P) of the Directorate General of Housing, Ministry of PUPR Bakhitar, said that the construction of huntap was carried out in three regencies/cities, namely Palu City, Sigi Regency and Donggala Regency, totaling 5,732 units.

The construction of the first phase of 1,679 units was completed last year and has begun to be inhabited by the community.

"Currently, we are carrying out the construction of the second phase as many as 4,053 units. The prospective residents have also been verified. We are targeting the construction of the second phase to be completed in December 2023," said Bakhtiar in his official statement, quoted Monday, March 27.

Huntap is built using Healthy Simple Instant Home (RISHA) technology. RISHA is a knock-down construction technology that can be built quickly using reinforced concrete materials in its main structure. In addition, RISHA is also designed as an earthquake-resistant building.

It is hoped that the presence of RISHA in earthquake-prone areas such as Palu and Donggala will prevent local people from losing their homes and property due to the earthquake.

In addition to huntap, the Ministry of PUPR through the Central Sulawesi Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) also built various residential infrastructures to support the huntap area.

The settlement infrastructure built includes roads, drainage, green open spaces, public street lighting, TPS3R waste processing system, SPALD-T for waste treatment, as well as SPAM and reservoirs for water supply.

"For settlement infrastructure, there is a contracting work until March 2024, but we will make efforts to accelerate it so that it can be completed in December 2023 along with the completion of the huntap," he added.
