PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) projects that the number of additional flight requests or extra flights during the Eid al-Fitr or Eid Al-Fitr 2023 period will reach around 500 flights.

President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II or AP II Muhammad Awaluddin said his party was preparing to anticipate additional flight requests during the Lebaran 2023 homecoming period.

Furthermore, Awaluddin said that until now his party had not received an exact figure from the Ministry of Transportation regarding requests for additional flights.

"Our estimate is that if we take historical data on Eid 2022, our extra flight figures are in the range of 400 to 500 during the Eid transportation period. It is more or less the same this year," he said at the Forwahub event, at the Ministry of Transportation, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 21.

Awaluddin said the addition of flights from this airline would have an impact on increasing airport operating hours. Therefore, his party will continue to communicate with AirNav.

The consequence is to anticipate airport operating hours. Together with AirNav we will consolidate it together. In principle, capacity, flexibility will be our priority," he explained.

On the other hand, Awaluddin ensured that the period of transportation for Lebaran AP II would be carried out from April 12 to May 2023. AP II will also open the 2023 Eid Transportation Post as a forum for the coordination of all airport stakeholders.

Awaluddin is optimistic that AP II will serve 5.24 million passengers during the Eid 2023 transportation period, an increase of about 25 percent compared to 2022. Meanwhile, aircraft movement traffic is predicted to reach 36,585 flights, an increase of about 11 percent.

For airport operating hours, Awaluddin emphasized that AP II airport is very flexible and can operate early or later at night to serve travelers.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Tangerang) and Kualanamu Airport (Deli Serdang) continue to operate 24 hours a day, as well as Halim Perdanakusuma Airport which is prepared to operate 24 hours. These airports are expected to be the busiest during Eid 2023 Transportation," he said.

Awaluddin projects that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on April 21, 2023, which is expected to have 281,261 passengers. Meanwhile, the backflow will occur on April 30, 2023, which is projected to serve 257,671 passengers.

Meanwhile, AirNav Indonesia Operations Director Mokhammad Khatim ensured that he was ready to serve the 2023 Eid homecoming traffic. Khatim projects that during the Eid transportation period there will be 4,900 flights.

Our human resources and facilities are ready. We are also preparing our system to anticipate weather and lightning protection that causes disturbances," said Khatim.

Khatim also said that flights in Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Semarang are predicted to decrease. This is due to adequate toll road operations and can be an option for travelers.

Furthermore, Khatim said that AirNav is also ready to serve additional flights during this year's homecoming period.

"There are several airports that do not operate 24 hours and exceed 24 hours according to flight traffic," he said.
