JAKARTA Bank Indonesia (BI) has confirmed that it will return to serve new cash exchanges ahead of the momentum of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

BI Deputy Governor Aida S. Budiman said the money exchange would last for a full month.

"People can exchange money from March 20 to April 20, 2023," he said when answering reporters' questions in Jakarta on Thursday, March 16.

Aida explained that her party spread exchange locations at 5,066 location points. Of these, 599 points are located in the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

Aida added, this year the central bank has provided cash of IDR 195 trillion which is confirmed to have met the quality of distribution.

"The allocation of cash in Jabodetabek itself is IDR 48.2 trillion," he said.

As for people who want to exchange money from national banking institutions, they can directly use the savings that have been registered with the bank.

"So it's just a matter of exchanging for savings to get new cash," he said.

Furthermore, Aid also said that Bank Indonesia had prepared a money exchange package consisting of several denominations. This is intended to make it easier for the public to make transactions in the field. "There is a cash package worth Rp. 3.8 million which consists of several denominations so it is easier," he concluded.
