JAKARTA - PT Kimia Farma Tbk (KAEF) continues to maintain relations with the community through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.

In order to encourage tempuyung farmers to develop their potential through the Creating Shared Value (CSV) approach, KAEF inaugurated the Industrial Development program of Kimia Farma Village in Sukamanah Village, Bandung Regency, West Java. Sukamanah Village is located in a hilly area which is the location of choice for the cultivation of tempuyung plants.

The Village Development Program for tempuyung farmers was inaugurated directly by the Director of Human Resources KAEF Dharma Syahputra and the Head of Horticulture Division of the West Java Province Food Crops and Horticulture Service, Wardini Mulatsari. Also present were the Bandung Regency Agriculture Service, the Secretary to the Head of Pangalengan District, and the Sukamanah Village Government Head.

Kimia Farma will assist fostered farmers so that they can become a driving wheel for developing the capacity of the tempuyung agricultural group in their area. This program is carried out with training on the use of tempuyung leaves, training on the seeding of tempuyung seeds, training on cultivation land management, and planting cultivation training.

Tempuyung is the raw material for the Batugin herbal product owned by KAEF. With the nutritional content of tempuyung, it is believed that it can help reduce kidney stones or urinary tract stones. Tempuyung farmers will become official suppliers of KAEF so that the company gets an alternative supplier of tempuyung leaves.

"In addition to being one of the suppliers of herbal products owned by Kimia Farma, the Village Industry Development program will improve the welfare of farmers, so that the income of farmers from the tempuyung cultivation group will increase. Hopefully this program can be sustainable so that it will provide social and economic benefits," said Dharma Syahputra, in his statement Thursday, March 16.

"Through the Industrial Development, the village of tempuyung farmers will utilize land potential for community empowerment activities. In the end, this program will support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals through agricultural productivity, economic improvement, and sustainable conservation and use of land," said Wardini Mulatsari.
