JAKARTA - Indonesian agricultural exports continue to show positive growth, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The value of agricultural exports in 2022 reached IDR 658.18 trillion.

Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo said that during the COVID-19 period, the Indonesian agricultural sector even supported the country's economy.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the value of agricultural exports has grown in the last four years. Where in 2019, the export value was recorded at IDR 390.16 trillion. In 2020, this value grew 15 percent to IDR 451.77 trillion.

Then in 2021, it was again recorded that it rose 36.43 percent to Rp616.35 trillion. The export value will increase again in 2022 by Rp658.18 trillion.

Seeing the increasing developments, Syahrul encouraged business actors in the agricultural sector to continue to increase exports.

"Look, starting from Rp. 300 trillion, finally Rp. 600 trillion, this year must go through Rp. 1,000 trillion. Come on, "he said at the Agrinovation Conference, at the Mandiri Tower, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 15.

Syahrul said the increase occurred because of the many challenges that made the agricultural sector more open to trying to export.

Furthermore, according to Syahrul, the market at the national level is good. Currently, Indonesian agricultural products are being sought after by many people in the international market. Therefore, according to Syahrul, this opportunity must be taken.

"For example, coffee and chocolate are asked everywhere. There is no big cafe in the world without coffee and chocolate from Indonesia," he said.
