JAKARTA - The West Sumatra Provincial Government, through the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), targets regional revenue through a motor vehicle tax of IDR 1.3 trillion by 2023.
Head of West Sumatra Bapenda Maswar Dedi in Padang, Sunday, March 12, said that until the first quarter, the tax achievement was still at 16 percent and this was being boosted in achieving this target.
"This vehicle tax consists of motor vehicle taxes and motor vehicle customs taxes. Vehicle taxes are the main source of regional income that will be used by the government in carrying out development," he said, as reported by Antara.
His party has also launched the Triple Untung tax payment relief program which aims to ease the burden on the community in paying vehicle taxes.
"This program is a continuation of the five-profit program that we have held in 2020. This program is more special because something has just been given to the people of West Sumatra," he said.
According to him, the Triple Untung program is free of transfer fees for the names of 2nd motorized vehicles and Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB).
Two other special programs, namely free principal transfer fees for the names of 2nd motorized vehicles and for vehicles outside West Sumatra, are given a 50 percent discount for tax payments in the first year after changing names and third, free fines for Mandatory Road Traffic Accident Funds (SWDKLLJ).
"This program only applies to the payment period from March 2 to May 2, 2023 and there is no extension," he said.
According to him, the launch of this program was carried out at Transmart so that it can be known to the wider community because those who come to this shopping center are not only from Padang City but from all over West Sumatra.
"This socialization is important for us to do so that people are not surprised and invite the public to immediately pay their vehicle taxes and take advantage of this opportunity," he said.
West Sumatra Police Traffic Director Kombes Pol Hilman Wijaya invited people in West Sumatra to immediately move their vehicle numbers using other provincial number plates to West Sumatra.
"This is a form of love for the region so that vehicle taxes do go into the regional treasury and can be used for regional development," he said.
According to him, all vehicles in West Sumatra should use regional number plates so that the regional taxes received are more optimal.
"As revealed by the head of Bapenda, vehicle taxes and customs tax on motorized vehicles are a source of income for regions that are used for regional purposes," he said.
He also asked people who have old vehicles or are heavily damaged to report to the nearest Samsat so that their vehicle taxes can be abolished and not become targets.
"We invite the people of West Sumatra to take advantage of this convenience. This program is a form of government love for people whose economy is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with the ease of paying vehicle taxes," he said.
