JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) inaugurated 1,105 Solar Public Road Lighting (PJU-TS) in Central Kalimantan.

It is known, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (Ditjen EBTKE) provided assistance as many as 355 units.

This is the third time this assistance has been achieved after building 400 units in 2020, and in 2021 there will be 350 units.

"The government continues to realize the commitment to use the state budget for programs that provide direct benefits to the community, one of which is through the installation of PJU-TS. During the 2022 fiscal year, the total PJU-TS that has been built is 20,546 units or equivalently lighting a 1.027 km road, spread across Indonesia," said Director of Planning and Development of EBTKE Infrastructure, Hendra Iswahyudi in an official statement, Friday, March 10.

Hendra revealed that the assistance provided was that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had built 111,233 PJU-TS throughout Indonesia.

"From the 2015 to 2022 fiscal year, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through the Directorate General of EBTKE has completed the construction of PJU-TS of 111,233 units or equivalently lighting a 5,562 km road," said Hendra.

On this occasion, Hendra also expressed his appreciation for the support of all parties so that the installation of PJU-TS has been carried out.

"Hopefully, the installation of PJU-TS can provide benefits and help the local government to save on Regional Original Revenue expenditures originating from road lighting taxes. Also for the community so that economic development can run faster. We hope that the PJU-TS that has been installed can be maintained together by the community, so that the benefits can be felt in a long period of time," concluded Hendra.

The PJU-TS program is a series of assistance programs for installing public street lighting for Indonesian people in need by using solar energy sources which are certainly environmentally friendly because they do not produce high emissions.

In addition to being more efficient, these PJU-TS lights also use LED lights that are energy efficient compared to PJU lights that are not energy efficient, such as mercury lights and sodium lights.
