JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Highways cooperates with the Indonesian Road Development Association (HPJI), the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australia (REAA), and the World Road Association (PIARC), in holding the 2023 Asia Australia Road Conference (AARC) conference in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on August 24-27, 2023.

This is an effort to improve the implementation of technology and innovation in the field of road infrastructure.

Director General of Highways and General Chairperson of the HPJI DPP Hedy Rahadian said this international conference was held with the support of the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono who continued to encourage the Ministry of PUPR to be actively involved in updating and upgrading the latest technologies and looking for innovation in every field of road and bridge infrastructure development.

"Professionally, we want to be part of the mainstream development of road and bridge technology in the world. Don't let Indonesia fall behind too much. We also want an accumulation of knowledge, document each other's experiences in the field and exchange experiences, find solutions to problems faced and exchange perspectives, so that there is an accumulation of the application of technology and input for future technological developments," Hedy said in his official statement, quoted Wednesday, March 8.

Hedy also encouraged AARC 2023 participants to learn about the systems and technologies used by international experts as well as share experiences & knowledge of the development and management of roads implemented in Indonesia.

So that the development of international cross-border professional knowledge is created in sustainable road development.

"When we talk about road and bridge infrastructure, the issue that we now emphasize is regarding quality, sustainability and aesthetics. We hope that there will be a lot of input and hopefully this event can again strengthen the network for the implementation of technological developments, either directly or indirectly in the construction and operation of bridge roads in Indonesia," said Hedy.

Meanwhile, the Director of Road and Bridge Preservation Region II as well as Deputy Chairperson of the AARC 2023 Committee Steering Committee and HPJI DPP Management Thomas Setiabudi Aden invite, the participation of all stakeholders in the field of roads and bridges to be able to enliven this international conference.
