Community Movement During Eid Is Predicted To Increase 14.2 Percent, Minister Of Transportation: Dominated From Java Island

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation predicts that as many as 123.8 million people will move during the Eid 2023 period. The movement of this community is dominated by Java Island.

The prediction of the movement of the community is the result of a potential survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation through the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT).

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the number of people who will travel this will increase by 14.2 percent when compared to the prediction of community movements in the 2022 Eid period which reached 85.5 million people.

"Based on the survey results, the origin of the movement of people is predicted to be dominated by Java, which is 62.5 percent or 77.3 million people," he told reporters, Tuesday, March 7.

Budi said there were five regions from which the travelers came from, namely, first, East Java 17.1 percent or as many as 21.2 million people. Second, Central Java 15.1 percent or as many as 18.7 million people.

"Jabodetabek 14.8 percent or 18, 3 million people. Then, West Java 12.1 percent or 14.9 million people, and North Sumatra 3.6 percent or 4.4 million people," he said.

The Five Highest Homecoming Destination Areas

Meanwhile, continued Budi, there are five areas where people travel the highest, namely, Central Java 26.45 percent or 32.75 million people.

Then, continued Budi, East Java 19.87 percent or 24.6 million people. Then, West Java 16.73 percent or 20.72 million people.

"Selanjutnya Jabodetabek 6,52 persen atau 8,07 juta orang dan Yogyakarta 4,78 persen atau 5,9 juta orang," jelasnya.

Budi said the peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur on D-1 or Friday, April 21, 2023. Where it is predicted that there will be a movement of 14.3 percent or 17.7 million people.

"The increase in travel on the homecoming flow is predicted to start to increase from D-3 or Wednesday 19 April 2023," he said.

For the peak of backflow, said Budi, it is estimated that it will occur on D+2 or Tuesday, April 25, 2023 and it is predicted that the movement will still be quite high until D+3 or Wednesday, April 26, 2023.
