JAKARTA - Member of the Interestholders of the National Energy Council Eri Purnomohadi said the fuel oil reserves (BBM) due to the Pertamina Plumpang Depot fire incident, North Jakarta, were safe.
Even so, the Pertamina Plumpang Depot needs to be supported by other oil reserves, so that fuel supplies in the country are not disrupted.
"With the incident at Plumpang Integrated Terminal which is Indonesia's largest fuel terminal, (then) it needs to be backed up with energy buffer reserves (CPE)," said Eri when contacted by VOI, Monday, March 6.
According to Eri, his party has prepared the CPE, but has not received complete approval from the relevant parties.
"The National Energy Council (DEN) has prepared CPE. Currently, we are waiting for the Presidential Decree to be finalized at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights," he said.
Eri assessed that these reserves are needed for now, as an anticipation of the scarcity of fuel in the country. Given, the Pertamina Plumpang Depot is a supplier of around 20 percent of fuel in Indonesia.
"In the (Perpres) there is a fuel reserve and LPG. Pertamina depot needs to be backed up by the CPE," he concluded.
As previously reported, the Pertamina Plumpang Depot reportedly experienced a severe fire on Friday night, March 3, at around 20.21 WIB.
Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga West Java Regional, Eko Kristiawan via text message confirmed the incident.
"There has been a fire in the fuel receipt pipe at the Integrated BBM Jakarta Terminal, Plumpang," he told VOI, Friday.
