The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) targets the number of passengers on the South Sumatra LRT (Sumsel) in Palembang to reach 3.5 million passengers by 2023.

Director of Traffic and Rail Transportation, Djarot Tri Wardhono said, there was an increase in the target of passengers this year by 500,000 passengers, from the previous 3 million passengers in 2022.

"Our target is in 2023, passengers reach 3.5 million per year," he said at a media briefing with the Directorate General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta, Thursday, March 2.

To achieve this target, Djarot said, the DJKA of the Ministry of Transportation has collaborated with the Palembang government to provide feeder or feeder services at several Palembang LRT stations.

"So the feeder will later increase the LRT ridership in Palembang and this has been proven in 2022 yesterday, the number of passengers reached 3 million passengers," he said.
