Deputy Speaker Of The House Of Representatives, Rachmat Gobel, Calls The Government And Parliament One Voice About Moving The Capital City

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives/Coordinator for Industry and Development (Korinbang) Rachmat Gobel said the government and parliament had one vote regarding the relocation of the state capital (IKN) from Jakarta to the archipelago.

"The transfer of the state capital from Jakarta to Kalimantan, there is a law made by parliament. So, the basis for IKN's thinking is considering Law No. 3 of 2022, that the purpose of moving is to improve the governance of the nation's capital," he explained in Tokyo, Japan, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, February 28.

The support of the DPR RI from this side of the regulation is a signal that the government and parliament agree that the transfer of the center of government to the central region of Indonesia is a good breakthrough.

It is hoped that the governance will later realize a modern, sustainable, and can become a reference for the management of other regions in the country.

This businessman from Gorontalo added that stakeholders also learned from the experience of the 2020 pandemic. At that time, many people had difficulties because the economy was uneven between regions.

"Therefore, post-COVID is a momentum for the President to encourage economic equality," explained the Nasdem Party politician.

Reflecting on the cooperation between the government and parliament, foreign investors, including Japan, there is no need to hesitate to take part in IKN development.

The Indonesian government and dozens of businessmen from the Japanese Business Federation (Kedanren) met in Tokyo, Japan, Tuesday.

Rachmat, who was the initiator of the business dialogue event, was present to represent the Indonesian parliament, accompanied by a number of other members of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
