JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani this week held a bilateral meeting with Indian Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the G20 agenda in Bangalore.
It was stated that the Indonesian government expressed full support for India's G20 Presidency in the 2023 period.
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said it was important to continue to establish coordination and cooperation in the field of trade and investment in overcoming various global challenges, including the energy and food crisis.
"After completing the leadership duties as the G20 Presidency in 2022, Indonesia's duties did not end. Indonesia is still part of the G20 Troika with India as the holder of the G20 Presidency this year and also Brazil which will hold the G20 Presidency in 2024," he said in a written statement, Friday, February 24.
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani explained, as a Troika, Indonesia will support the priority of implementing the G20 India in eight points, namely strengthening the Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) to overcome global challenges, managing global debt vulnerabilities, financing future cities that are inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.
Then a global coordinated approach for crypto assets without guarantees, advancing financial inclusion and productivity benefits, funding to address the impacts of climate change and sustainable development.
"And the last two points are increasing financial coordination for health including pandemic funds, and the international tax sector," he said.
In addition, Indonesia is also committed to always being ready to help realize India's G20 Presidency priority agenda as well as the heritage agenda of Indonesia's own G20 Presidency.
Sri Mulyani said, Indonesia is also willing to accept ASEAN's input and support for progress and smooth running together during the Indonesia Chairmanship in 2023, especially in supporting sustainable finance and a green economy.
"That way, hopefully, collaboration between G20 members, especially India and Indonesia can be established stronger for a better future in the world," he concluded.
