JAKARTA - The Modern Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) admits that it is disappointed with the government's decision to ban the sale of simple packaged cooking oil with the oil industry brand in modern retail.

As is known, sales of Oil and Forestry in modern retail have been banned in line with the decision of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag). Now, the supply of Oil will only be distributed to traditional markets.

Aprindo Chairman Roy Nicholas Mandey regretted the decision. Roy also denied that the sale of Oil in retail made people switch from premium oil to Oil Oil.

"We are very sorry. Because in the end retail can't anymore. Even if it is said that there is a shift in consumers of premium oil to Oil, we don't get the data in retail," he said when met at the meeting of the Indonesian Modern Market Developer Association at Balai Sudirman, Jakarta, Thursday, February 23.

Furthermore, Roy explained, retail consumers who are used to using premium cooking oil for their daily needs will not switch to Oil.

Premium still buys premiums. Because of what, they used to use cooking oil. So they want to switch to Oil it can be different, or the quality of the food can be different, which way to go. So the reason for the switching does not happen," he explained.

Roy said, consumer behavior occurs in modern retail. However, Roy admitted that he did not know whether this behavior occurred in other consumers.

"This is retail, yes. I don't know outside the retail. But if you switch consumers with premium cooking oil to Oil, there is no data," he said.

In addition, Roy admitted that before the ban, the supply of Oil and Forestry in modern retail often ran out. This is because 15 to 20 percent of modern retail consumers are middle to lower class people.

Before being banned from retail, why did it run out? Because the segmentation in retail consumers is around 15-20 percent middle to lower. What's the house close to supermarkets, why don't you buy Oil and Small Oil", he said.
