Pension Funds Checked By The AGO, Pelindo Boss: Indeed We Encourage Audit

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo Arif Suhartono opened a sura regarding the alleged corruption of the Port and Dredging Company Pension Fund (D4P) company that manages Pelindo's pension funds.

He added that his party was indeed pushing for a large audit.

As is known, the Attorney General's Office (AGO) is investigating cases of alleged corruption in the management of pension funds from DP4 from 2013 to 2019.

Arif admitted that his party deliberately communicated with the Attorney General's Office and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) regarding this pension fund.

"We indeed encourage pension funds to carry out a good audit. And we communicate with BPKP and the Prosecutor's Office to ensure that the management in the future is better," he told reporters, Wednesday, February 22.

He said, if there was a problem with DP4 in the past, there would be nothing wrong with checking in more detail.

If something goes wrong, Arif leaves it to law enforcement officials.

"Of course, the old ones need to be checked in more detail, and if there is a mistake, let the legal apparatus act," he said.

Arif admitted that he had coordinated with the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). In fact, he said, his party has also established guidelines so that pension funds can be managed properly.

"Of course we as Pelindo management provide this related guidance to be more careful in the future. What happened maybe before 5 or 10 years ago as a lesson so that in the future it will be better," he said.

Moreover, continued Arif, SOE Minister Erick Thohir has also given directions to all SOEs to ensure that each pension fund is healthy.

Therefore, said Arif, the role of the directors and commissioners in managing the company's pension fund will be increased. In addition, Arif guarantees the independence of Pelindo's pension fund manager.

"I didn't talk about the previous one, my days made sure to give guidance to them. Now we make sure to be in-line. They are independent but we provide guidance," he explained.
