JAKARTA - Kertajati Airport, Majalengka is considered to have met the standard requirements for Hajj flight services. This was reviewed by the Saudi Arabia General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) team.

The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has stated the readiness of Kertajati Airport to become a hajj embarkation airport through the fulfillment of standard aspects of aviation security and safety, service aspects and other aspects such as immigration, customs and quarantine services (customs, immigration, and quarantine/CIQ).

Director General of Civil Aviation M. Kristi Endah Murni in an official statement received in Jakarta on Saturday said the GACA team/Saudi Arabia Civil Aviation Authority had reviewed the readiness of Kertajati Airport services for Hajj flights and a number of requested requirements had met the standard.

"Furthermore, GACA will send a 'clearance' letter to the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation as evidence of the results of direct review and observation to Kertajati Airport," Kristi said quoting Antara, Saturday, February 18.

After the Ministry of Transportation receives a letter of feasibility (clearance) it is certain that the Hajj season in 2023 the people of West Java can go for Hajj through Kertajati Airport.

"Of course it will be a matter of pride for prospective pilgrims from West Java and its surroundings to be able to depart through Kertajati Airport because it can save time and do not need to go all the way to Soekarno-Hatta Airport," he said.

He also asked all flight "stakeholders" involved in the preparation of Hajj flights to carry out services according to the established procedures so that the implementation of Hajj flights which only have a few months can be carried out properly.

Previously, the presence of the GACA team accompanied by the Attache of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah was welcomed by representatives from the technical directorate of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, West Java International Airport (BIJB), PT Angkasa Pura II along with representatives of agencies in charge of CIQ, local governments, and agencies in charge of implementing Hajj services to check and see firsthand the readiness of facilities at the airport so that the service aspect has been fulfilled.
