PT PLN (Persero) through the Light Up The Dream program carries out simultaneous electricity lighting to 50 residents in West Sumatra for free. The Light Up The Dream program itself is assistance originating from donations from PLN employees with the aim of easing the burden on the poor in getting electricity.

PLN's Legal and Human Capital Management Director Yusuf Didi Setiarto, who carried out simultaneous lighting, said that the free electricity connection was a real step for PLN in realizing fair energy.

In the Light Up The Dream program, PLN employees took the initiative to set aside part of their income for electricity connection costs to underprivileged families spread throughout Indonesia and this time it was carried out in the West Sumatra region.

"Alhamdulillah, this noble initiative program, which was initiated in 2020, can continue as a commitment to realize people's dreams of not being able to get electricity for free," Didi said in an official statement, Monday, February 13.

Didi said that the Light Up The Dream program at PLN UID West Sumatra has helped electrify 802 families for free. Meanwhile, nationally, there are 7,806 poor people throughout Indonesia who have enjoyed free connection assistance from the Light Up The Dream Program.

"The presence of electricity is very beneficial, with electricity the younger generation we can learn well and the community can also work more productively. Independent efforts outside of company policies are very good concrete steps," said Didi.

Elidawati, one of the recipients of the free electricity installation program Light Up The Dream, admitted that she was greatly helped by the assistance for installing new electricity from PLN.

For Elidawati, who is a single parent, having access to electricity at home is her dream so far. This is because the income she gets is only enough to meet her daily needs.

"To have electricity is difficult. Because daily needs are sometimes not enough. But now we can enjoy electricity, thank you PLN, hopefully it will be more successful and can give more blessings to other residents," he said.
