JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will conduct trials of contactless non-cash toll transactions or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) on six toll roads, starting this year.
Head of Operations and Maintenance of the Secretariat of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency of the Ministry of PUPR Ali Rachmadi said the expansion of the MLFF trial would be carried out after the first trial on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road was completed.
"The first MLFF, we are planning a trial on the Bali Mandara section in June. Then, maybe there will be an expansion of trials in the five more sections that are prioritized to be carried out," Ali told reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 8.
The five toll roads tested include the Jagorawi Toll Road, the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, the Inner City Toll Road, the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR), and the Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road.
"The full trial expansion plan is five segments after Bali Mandara in December (coming)," said Ali.
"We will see if the system is tested or not, if everything has been tested, then we will release it for the next segment," he said.
Previously, the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed that the launch of the Cantas application for the contactless non-cash toll payment system or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) was awaiting approval from the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono.
"If indeed the Cantas application wants to be launched, we are waiting for approval from the Minister of PUPR first," said Head of Operations and Maintenance of the BPJT Secretariat of the Ministry of PUPR Ali Rachmadi at a seminar in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Ali added, this is because the launch of the Cantas application is a policy from the Ministry of PUPR.
"Regarding the progress of the Cantas application, we have made a simulator and placed it in several places, especially at the PUPR Ministry and has been connected to the application," he said.
This application will later be connected to source of funds, which still need to be integrated with banks and so on.
