JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara revealed that the main duties and functions of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) do not only cover the management of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

Lebih dari itu, Punggawa Nagara Dana Rakca (sebutan bagi jajaran Kementerian Keuangan) memiliki tanggung jawab untuk menjaga ekonomi dari aspek yang sangat makro.

"What the Ministry of Finance does is not only manage the APBN. Taking care of the APBN is the least, but what is managed by the Ministry of Finance is the Indonesian economy," he said during a working visit to West Kalimantan on Wednesday, February 8.

Therefore, Suahasil seeks to ensure his staff to fully understand the concept in every task carried out.

"I ask friends at the Ministry of Finance to be able to build closeness with the provincial government, close to universities, close to research institutions so that they can communicate together," he said.

Suahasil added that the representative offices of the Ministry of Finance in the regions must also be able to understand the intricacies of the local economy in order to continue to ensure fiscal instruments provide benefits to the wider community.

"So wherever we are we have to understand what the economy is like," he said firmly.

For information, the State Budget is an instrument of state revenue and expenditure that includes RI economic activities for one year. In the APBN, the government divides the distribution of the budget to two important points, namely central government spending through ministries/agencies and transfers to the regions (TKD).

Meanwhile, revenue is obtained from tax, customs and excise revenues, non-tax state recipients (PNBP), and grants. Meanwhile, the expenditure plan in the 2023 State Budget is IDR 3,061.2 trillion with an income of IDR 2,463 trillion.

The budget deficit of IDR 598.2 trillion will be met through debt financing, utilization of more budget balances (SAL), and also government investment financing.
