Wisman Visits Up 250 Percent In 2022, Minister Sandiaga: This Is Extraordinary

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) noted that the total number of foreign tourist arrivals (tourists) to Indonesia reached 5.5 million, an increase of 250 percent throughout 2022, when compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, until December 2022, the total number of foreign tourists reached 895 thousand visits, an increase of 447 percent compared to November in the same year.

"Alhamdulillah, this is extraordinary that foreign tourist visits to Indonesia exceed the set target. We closed December 2022 with a total tourist visit of 895 thousand, of course in total December 2022 it rose 36.19 percent compared to November," Sandiaga said at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Monday, February 6.

Based on the country's order, Sandiaga said, Singapore occupies the first position with the highest number of visits, reaching 20.15 percent.

"Furthermore, Malaysia (17.98 percent), Australia (11.42 percent), Timor Leste (8.4 percent), and India (5.61 percent)," he said.

The increase in the number of foreign tourist visits was accompanied by an increase in the occupancy rate of star-classified hotel rooms which reached almost 57 percent or 5.33 points compared to the previous year.

"This was also followed by an average length of stay for guests (tourists) which was recorded at 1.62 days up compared to the previous year," added Sandiaga.

Previously, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy projected that the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia would reach 5.2 million by 2022.
