The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of the Merauke Diocese building on Jalan Raya Mandala, Merauke Regency, South Papua.

The support of spiritual facilities and infrastructure is in line with President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin's priority programs regarding strengthening superior human resources (HR) through the development of religious infrastructure.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said, with the construction of the Merauke Diocese building, it is hoped that it can increase efforts to form a mental life together to create an environment that is cultured, civilized, and upholds moral value.

The construction of the Merauke Diocese building itself is under the responsibility of the Papua Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Directorate General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of PUPR, and has been completed by the end of December 2022.

The construction of the Merauke Diocese building came from the 2022 State Budget worth Rp. 23.9 billion. "The budget is used for preliminary work, structure, architecture, power house, MEP (mechanical, electronic and plumbing), landscape, and completeness of the Work Safety and Health Management System (SMK3)," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of BPPW Papua Corneles Sagrim said that during the construction process, the construction of the Merauke Diocese building went well in accordance with the three main principles, namely on quality, on time, and on quality.
