JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has started the construction of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road phase I Probolinggo to Besuki for 49.68 km.

This was marked by the laying of the first stone (Groundbreaking) by the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono in Pendil Village, Suko District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java, on Monday, February 6.

Minister Basuki said the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road with a total length of 175.40 km was the final section of the Trans Java Toll Road which had previously been connected from Banten, I West Java to Probolinggo Timur, East Java.

It is hoped that with the increase in toll roads, the distribution of people, goods, and services will further accelerate from Banten to Banyuwangi, and will become a driving force for the community's economy.

"This is the end of the Trans Java Toll Road which is connected from the West end to the east end of Java Island. The Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Concession Agreement (PPJT) has been implemented since 2017. Today we are starting to return technically with an investment value of Rp. 10.7 trillion," Basuki said in a written statement, quoted on Tuesday, February 7.

Basuki advised contractors and supervisory consultants to pay attention to quality, aesthetics and environmental sustainability. "Everything has depended since the beginning of planning. For that, I ask consultants not to mess with the quality of the work results. Consultants who are trusted to supervise work must carry out their duties as well as possible," he said.

In addition, Basuki also emphasized to implementing contractors who carry out development to maximize the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) according to the President's direction. "Use domestic products, prohibited imports, domestic infrastructure products must be utilized. By continuing to be purchased, such as lead rubber bearing, these products will continue to grow," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of PUPR, Danang Parikesit, said that the construction of this toll road is targeted to be completed in 2024.

"The completion of the Probolinggo Banyuwangi toll road is important because in addition to the final part of Trans Java, it also helps develop tourism activities, both in East Java and Bali," he said.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT. Jasamarga Probolinggo Banyuwangi (JPB) Adi Prasetyanto said that the construction of the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road was divided into two stages of development, namely Phase I connecting Probolinggo to Besuki for 49.68 km and Phase II connecting Besuki to Banyuwangi for 125.72 km.

The construction of Phase I is divided into three construction work packages, namely Package 1 Gending- Kraksaan (12.88 km) with land acquisition progress of 92.02 percent, Package 2 Kraksaan-Paiton (11.20 km) with land acquisition progress of 89.67 percent, and Package 3 Paiton-Besuki (25.60 Km) with land acquisition progress 28.48 percent.

"With the progress of the land, we are ready to start construction of Package 1 and Package 2 simultaneously in early February which was followed by the construction of Package 3 in mid-February 2023," Adi added.

For your information, the work of Package 1 of the Gending-Kraksaan section is carried out by contractors PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk-PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero)-PT Marga Construction Nusantara (KSO), while supervision is carried out by Supervision Consultants from PT Virama Karya (Persero).

Next, Package 2 of the Kraksaan-Paiton segment was carried out by contractor PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur-PT Acset Indonusa Tbk-PT Nindya Karya KSO. For supervision, carried out by Supervision Consultants from PT Multi PHI Beta.

Then, Package 3 of the Paiton-Besuki segment is carried out by the contractor PT. Housing Development (Persero) Tbk.-PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk.-PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk., (KSO), while supervision is divided into 2 Packages, Package 3A is carried out by Supervision Consultant from PT Eskapindo Matra and Package 3B is still in the procurement preparation stage.
