JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Housing stated that it is ready to welcome back the management of the Kemayoran Athlete's Wisma Flats in Jakarta from BNPB.

According to the plan, Wisma Atlet Kemayoran will be returned to its function as originally for housing and will be handed over to the state secretariat as the owner of the vertical building asset.

"We are ready to welcome back the management of Wisma Atlet Kemayoran from BNPB after the COVID-19 pandemic and improvements will soon be made to be immediately handed over to the state secretariat as a applicant and land owner," said Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR Iwan Suprijanto in his statement in Jakarta, quoted on Saturday, February 4.

According to Iwan, the Ministry of PUPR together with BNPB are currently collecting data related to assets belonging to Lementerian/institutions at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, especially after the use of the vertical building as a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) some time ago.

This is done so that these assets are well maintained and not damaged.

Currently, said Iwan, the condition of Wisma Atlet Kemayoran is not in a stalled condition. It also continues to coordinate with BNPB, especially in returning the vertical building assets.

"We reiterate that Wisma Atlet Kemayoran is not stalled as widely circulated information in the field. So, it is not true that the government allows the vertical building after the COVID-19 pandemic, because we will continue to take care of it as best we can to be returned as its function as a residence," he explained.

Iwan emphasized that his party also maintains state assets and continues to coordinate with the Ministry of State Secretariat as the owner of the building's assets. This is because the land used as a construction site belongs to the Ministry of State Secretariat.

"It is targeted that this year the handover process and the authority to utilize Wisma Atlet Kemayoran will be handed over by the Ministry of PUPR to the Ministry of State Secretariat as the owner of the asset from the guesthouse," he concluded.

Previously, the Chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ida Maheasy, highlighted the question of the vacancy of Wisma Atlet Kemayoran and Pademangan after he was no longer a Covid Emergency Hospital (RSDC).

Ida suggested that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) take over the building from the central government. If it is taken over, Ida suggested that the Provincial Government convert Wisma Atlet as a Flat.

He hopes that this proposal will be followed up by the provincial government by coordinating with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) as the owner of the building.

"I think there is nothing wrong with the DKI Regional Government also processing it so that we ask to make the top flat, under which we build a child hospital. We, right, need it. This is quite large, you know, Wisma Atlet is, there is Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, there is Wisma Atlet Pademangan," said Ida at the DKI DPRD building, some time ago.
