Pertamina Shipping Is The Largest Environmentally Friendly Tanker In The World

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) has a giant gas tanker or very large gas carrier (VLGC). Where, the ship is included in the world's largest gas carrier line.

The VLGC ship belonging to PIS named Pertamina Gas (PG) "Amaryllis" is also the VLGC first dual fuel system ship owned by Indonesia.

"Congratulations to PIS who now has the first 'dual fuel' VLGC that uses low sulfur fuel oil and gas as fuel. This is a real step for PIS in the decarbonization program towards net zero emissions," said PT Pertamina (Persero) President Director Nicke Widyawati quoting between, Friday, February 3.

The signing of the PG VLGC Ship delivery and reception protocol "Amaryllis" took place in Singapore, Wednesday, February 1.

Meanwhile, PT PIS CEO Yoki Firnandi explained that the VLGC PG "Amaryllis" ship has a capacity of up to 90 thousand cubic meters.

"This is the largest ship in its class, currently the VLGC ship that PIS has, namely PG 1 and PG 2 which are still below that size. With this large capacity, the ship's tonnage can be utilized optimally to encourage a maximum'revenue'," said Yoki.

Meanwhile, PIS Fleet Director Muhammad Irfan Zainul Fikri explained the many advantages of the PG "Amaryllis" ship. Apart from having a very large load capacity, the ship also has a dual engine in which the ship's driving engine consists of "low sulfur fuel oil" (LSFO) and LPG which will help to be efficient on the operational side.

"In addition, this ship is also ready to transport ammonia and can be the chemical transporter, the largest ship that can contain ammonia," said Irfan.

Having the largest charge capacity in class with more efficient fuel use, PIS believes the "Amaryllis" ship can provide a lot of benefits for companies and also a more environmentally friendly energy business.

The ship's ownership also shows PIS' commitment to decarbonization.

"We believe this ship will not only provide benefits from a commercial side but also on the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) side and the company's environmentally friendly commitment," said Irfan.
