Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated that the decision to open the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) at the end of last year had a positive impact on the driving industry and its derivatives.

According to him, the clearest indicator can be seen from the soaring business activities in the hotel business sector.

He made this conclusion when he met the Head of State at the Merdeka Palace today.

"Earlier, the President asked for a report after one month the PPKM was stopped, so economic activity in tourism and the creative economy increased significantly with room occupancy rates reaching 80-90 percent," he said at a press conference, Monday, January 30.

Sandi said that a higher occupancy rate actually occurred at the locations that became the flagship areas.

"For favorite destinations, such as Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali, it even reaches 100 percent," he added.

Sandi explained that his party was not necessarily complacent with the results achieved and tried to spur the tourism industry to continue.

He also targeted an increase in the number of foreign tourist arrivals through several strategies.

"We will increase the number of flights. Earlier, the President also gave directions so that the development of a special economic zone (SEZ) for tourism can be accelerated so as to create business opportunities and employment opportunities," he said.

In the latest report, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that the room occupancy rate (TPK) of five-star hotels in Indonesia was 52.31 percent in October 2022.

This value increased by 2.29 points compared to the previous month which was 50.02 percent.
