PLN Bangun Tiga PLTS Listriki Kepulauan Selayar Sulawesi Selawesi Selatan

PT PLN (Persero) has built three Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with a total capacity of 3.2 megawatt peak (MWp) to electrify the island community in Selayar Regency, South Sulawesi.

These three projects will be built in scattered locations, namely in Pasimarannu Village with a capacity of 1,398 kilowatt peak (kWp) in Takabonerate Village with a capacity of 1,114 kWp and finally in Pasilambena Village with a capacity of 695 kWp. It is projected that this program will operate in October 2023.

General Manager of PLN's Main Distribution Unit for South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and West Sulawesi, Moch. Andy Adhaminoerdin said that the presence of PLTS is a form of PLN's commitment to providing environmentally friendly energy.

"This is PLN's commitment to providing environmentally friendly energy, especially in the South Sulawesi region. Hopefully, with the construction contract of three PLTS, it can be completed according to plan, so that people in the Selayar Islands can immediately enjoy electricity and be able to improve their standard of living and economy," Andy said in an official statement, Monday, January 23.

On the other hand, the presence of three PLTS will later strengthen the reliability of electricity supply and improve services for existing customers around the location.

These three PLTS will be an additional supply in serving 29,392 customers. Previously, Selayar Regency already had one PLTS with a capacity of 1.3 Mega Watt peak (MWp) in Parak Village, Bontomanai District.

For the record, currently the South Sulawesi electricity system, especially in South Sulawesi, has been supplied by renewable energy, such as PLTB Tolo (60MW), PLTB Sidrap (70MW), PLTA Bakaru (2x63MW), PLTA Poso (515 MW), PLTA Malea (90 MW), PLTA Bili-Bili (19.5 MW) to increase the EBT mix in South Sulawesi by 45.8 percent above the national target of 23 percent in 2025.
