JAKARTA - The grand event for the Chinese New Year and Cap Gomeh celebrations in Singkawang City which will be held from January 20 to February 6, attracts the attention of local residents to foreign countries.
To make the international standard event a success, PLN's West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) Distribution Main Unit (Kalbar) made a series of preparations. The goal is to keep the electricity supply safe during the activity.
Singkawang Mayor Tjhai Chui Mie said the existence of PLN electricity was vital in the Chinese New Year and Cap Gomeh celebrations. Therefore, he appreciated PLN's efforts and support in the success of the annual event held by the Singkawang City Government.
"PLN's electricity is the heart of all activities. How not, thousands of lanterns and various ornamental lights installed throughout the city all rely on electricity from PLN," he said in a written statement, as quoted on Saturday, January 21.
Tjhai Chui Mie said that the excitement of the Chinese New Year and Cap Gomeh Singkawang celebrations will later be centered on Kridasana Field, Singasang City. Later, various art performance activities will be held with dozens of event venues and stalls of MSME actors who all rely on electricity from PLN.
"On behalf of the community and the Singkawang City Government, I appreciate and at the same time express my gratitude for the support of PLN which presents quality electricity for the success of activities that are the pride of the people of West Kalimantan, especially the people of Singkawang City and its surroundings," he said.
Meanwhile, General Manager of PLN West Kalimantan Distribution Main Unit (UID Kalbar) Mochamad Soffin Hadi said that various preparations for the success of the Chinese New Year and Cap Gomeh celebrations had been carried out by PLN from several months earlier, so that electricity supply was maintained reliably.
Soffin said, currently, the condition of the electricity system in Singkawang City is very conducive with a generating capacity of 330 mega watts (MW). Meanwhile, the highest peak load in Singkawang City is 90.41 MW and the estimated increase in electricity load during the Chinese New Year and Cap Gomeh celebrations is estimated to reach 3.69 percent or 93.75 MW.
"With a power surplus of 240 MW in the Singkawang electricity system, we are ready to secure electricity supply during the Chinese New Year and Cap Gomeh celebrations which are expected to be attended by thousands of visitors to foreign countries. Moreover, the Singkawang electricity system is included in the Equatorial interconnection electricity system. So, it is very conducive," he explained.
In addition, Soffin also hopes for community participation to jointly maintain the reliability of supply, one of which is by not playing kites, especially using wire ropes around the PLN electricity network.
"If there is a disturbance or finds the potential for electrical disturbances around their respective homes, please let the public immediately report via the PLN Mobile application or PLN 123 Contact Center," he said.
