Kadin: The Harpitnas Discourse Can Be Implemented, As Long As It Doesn't Depend On Productivity

JAKARTA - The business world welcomes the discourse of a tight day or Harpitnas to become a national holiday that has just been conveyed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno recently.

Nevertheless, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Regional Autonomy Development Sarman Simanjorang said that to implement the decision, coordination was needed from the start, so that the decision would not affect the performance productivity of entrepreneurs.

"Of course, we from entrepreneurs, in principle, do (support the Harpitnas policy) as long as it does not reduce services to the public, then also does not reduce productivity. Of course this is a consideration," said Sarman to VOI, Friday, January 20.

According to Sarman, consideration of work productivity and working hours is still the main concern of his party, considering that on Saturday and Sunday the workers have been confirmed to be off.

"It just has to be seen in terms of productivity. Then also from working hours that Saturday Sunday has become a holiday. So, it means that it needs consideration and evaluation, as well as an in-depth analysis from the government," he said.

Sarman said, his party assessed that the wheels of economic drive were not only from Harpitnas, but usually people also take advantage of Saturday and Sundays for holidays.

"Indeed, if there are holidays, usually Indonesian habits will be used, yes, for holidays with family or maybe eating together outside, it will definitely drive the economy," he explained.

"Then, for example, if you visit areas, say a tourist center, it will drive hotels, restaurants, cafes, then also various SMEs around the tour. Of course, this will drive various business sectors in this case," he added.

Therefore, Sarman hopes that with the implementation of the Harpitnas, the economic movement and tourists can actually be realized.

"In terms of entrepreneurs, yes, of course we appreciate it, but of course this will all return to the evaluation and analysis of the government. This means that when the policy is carried out, it means that there is potential rather than economic turnover, then it also revives tourist destinations and also various SMEs around the tour," he concluded.
