JAKARTA - PT PGN Tbk in 2022 manages the natural gas supply of approximately 1,027 BBTUD to meet customer needs in various sectors.

In maintaining the continuity of natural gas services, PGN as PT Pertamina's gas subholding continues to seek new sources of supply both in the short and long term, through assessment and active communication.

PGN also continues to communicate with stakeholders and regulators such as SKK Migas in supporting supply continuity.

Head of SKK Migas Dwi Sucipto said, there are several projections of potential new sources of supply that can be utilized in regions 1 and 2 of Sumatra-Java around 96 BBTUD, Region III East Java around 331 BBTUD, and Region IV Eastern Indonesia approximately 3 BBTUD.

However, of course, this potential requires support from SKK Migas.

The use of new sources of supply will also be accompanied by massive infrastructure development.

"The interconnection between massive natural gas utilization activities, infrastructure development, and increased production is the key to the success of national natural gas utilization," he told the media, Thursday, January 19.

Following up on the development of massive natural gas infrastructure, he continued, infrastructure initiatives that are being prepared include the Kalimantan Transmission Pipeline, Bangkanai Transmission Pipeline, IKN Distribution Pipeline, and non-pipeline infrastructure. In addition, the management of PEPC gas and stranded gas can be distributed to fulfill retail demand.

PGN President Director M Haryo Yunianto said the new source of supply would simultaneously expand the utilization of the Gresik Semarang (Gresem) Transmission Pipeline section.

For example, the use of unassociated gas in the Banyu Urip Field which is integrated with the Gresem Pipeline to meet demand in Central and East Java.

"In addition to the electricity and fertilizer industries, PGN is optimizing SPBGs for public land and sea transportation, especially motorbikes and fishing boats. This step can be one of the keys to massively increasing gas utilization in supporting the reduction of energy subsidies and providing affordable energy services for the community," he said.

To maintain supply security, PGN continues to coordinate with SKK Migas and PSC Contractors regarding potential new supplies to support PGN's sustainability, but SKK Migas' support is needed to be able to provide volume and price certainty for potential new gas sources.

"New gas sources and LNG will be allocated to increase domestic natural gas utilization. On the other hand, PGN Group synergizes with SKK Migas for the development of oil and gas fields in accordance with the characteristics of the needs of natural gas consumers. As well as enabling the development of natural gas derivatives, in line with increasing needs," concluded Haryo.
