JAKARTA - PT PGN Tbk as Pertamina Gas Subholding, in 2022 will manage natural gas supply of approximately 1,027 BBTUD to meet customer needs in various sectors. With natural gas needs continuing to increase along with natural gas demand growth and projection as transition energy, as well as in order to support supply sustainability, PGN intensively implements communication with stakeholders, especially regulators, one of which is SKK Migas.

In maintaining the sustainability of natural gas services, PGN as PT Pertamina's gas subholding continues to seek new sources of supply both in the short and long term, through operational and active communication.

As the manager of the largest gas infrastructure in Indonesia, PGN expects new sources of supply to be able to support these needs. There are several projections for potential new sources of supply that can be utilized in the 1st and 2nd regions of Javanese Sumatra of up to 96 BBTUD, Region III of East Java by 331 BBTUD, and Region IV of Eastern Indonesia by 3 BBTUD. However, of course, this potential requires support from SKK Migas. The use of new supply sources will also be accompanied by massive infrastructure development.

"The interconnection between massive natural gas utilization activities, infrastructure development, and increased production is the key to the success of national natural gas utilization," said Head of SKK Migas Dwi Sucipto, Thursday, January 19.

Following up on the massive development of natural gas infrastructure, infrastructure initiatives that are being prepared include Kalimantan Transmission Pipes, Bangkanai Transmission Pipes, IKN distribution pipelines and non-pipeline infrastructure. In addition, the management of PEPC gas and stranded gas can be channeled to fulfill retail demand.

New sources of supply at the same time expand the utilization of the Gresik Semarang Transmission Pipe section (Gresem). For example, the utilization of unassociated gas in Banyu Urip Field is integrated with the Gresem Pipeline to meet demand in Central Java and East Java.

"In addition to the electricity and fertilizer industry, PGN is optimizing SPBG for public land and sea transportation, especially motors and fishing boats. This step can be one of the keys to massive increase in gas utilization in supporting the reduction of energy subsidies and providing affordable energy services for the community," added PGN President Director M. Haryo Yunianto.

To maintain supply security, PGN continues to coordinate with SKK Migas and KKKS regarding the potential for new supplies to support PGN sustainability, but it takes SKK Migas support to provide volume and price certainty for potential new gas sources.

"The new gas source and LNG will be allocated to increase domestic natural gas utilization. On the other hand, PGN Group synergizes with SKK Migas for the development of oil and gas fields that are in accordance with the characteristics of natural gas consumer needs. As well as enabling the development of natural gas derivatives, along with increasing needs," concluded Haryo.
