Celios Economist: Harpitnas Increases Productivity From A Country's Economy, Must Be Implemented Immediately!

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno proposed a tight day or Harpitnas to be a national holiday.

Hal tersebut diusulkan guna meningkatkan pencapaian target perjalanan wisantara (wisnus) sebesar Rp1,4 miliar pada 2023.

Economist and Director of the Center of Economic and Law Studies (CELIOS) Bhima Yudhistira also responded positively to this.

According to him, the policy could encourage economic movement.

"Actually, if there is a perception that there will be more holidays, productivity will be disrupted, in fact, many studies show that working hours are more effective, longer holidays, it will actually increase productivity from the economy of a country," Bhima told reporters in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 19.

"And when Harpitnas is later getting more and more closed, it will have an effect that will encourage tourism spending," he added.

According to Bhima, later the policy will have a good impact on all tourism sectors in the country.

"Now the momentum, right, PPKM is revoked, tourism spending increases, hotels and others will increase and that will have a positive effect, and will increase the number of domestic tourists," he said.

Therefore, Bhima assessed that the policy should be realized immediately.

"If possible, it will be implemented immediately this year, if I'm not mistaken, right, only the SKB (Joint Decree) of several ministers, right, it should be realized immediately, there is no need to reach the level of the president's decision," he concluded.
