Customs And Excise Express The Home Industry For Production Of Electric Cigarette Liquids Made From Methamphetamine

The Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance together with the Directorate of Drugs and Drugs at the Polda Metro Jaya have succeeded in uncovering cases of making liquids of e-cigarettes made from methamphetamine with a production scale of the home industry.

Head of the Sub-Directorate for Public Relations and Customs Counseling, Hatta Wardhana, said the case was included in an international network located in Kembangan, West Jakarta.

In the action carried out on January 14, the officers managed to secure the suspect with the initials MRK. The suspect is known to have made narcotics in liquid which was then packaged together with e-cigarette liquid and then circulated it himself," he said in a press statement earlier this week.

According to Hatta, the disclosure of this case began with public information that there had been an act of producing narcotics committed by the suspect in Kembangan, West Jakarta.

"After an investigation was carried out until the truth was obtained for this information, the officers arrested the suspect MRK with evidence that was ready to be distributed in the amount of 366 bottles of narcotics liquid measuring 50 ml and 41 bottles of narcotic liquid measuring 30 ml," he said.

Hatta explained that the suspect was subject to Article 113 paragraph (2) subsidiary to Article 114 paragraph (2) more subsidiary to Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"The person concerned can be sentenced to death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a minimum of six years and a maximum of twenty years," he stressed.

The Ministry of Finance itself stated that throughout 2022 37.000 prosecutions have been carried out against illegal cigarettes. This figure is an increase of almost 28 percent from prosecution in the 2021 period.
