Jokowi 'Sentil' Bulog To Be ABLE To Play Rice Prices

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded Perum Bulog to control the rising price of rice in 79 regions.

"I warned Bulog two days ago for this problem because in the field 79 rice areas experienced a small increase," said Jokowi when opening the Regional Head Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) and FKPD throughout Indonesia in Bogor, West Java, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, January 17.

President Jokowi asked Bulog, ministries and related non-ministerial institutions, regional heads and Bank Indonesia (BI) to continue to monitor the prices of goods and services in the field.

Jokowi wants the government and BI officials to have an early detection system related to the potential increase in prices of goods and services, including mitigation efforts.

"So that it is always detected as early as possible before the big incident occurs, so we can catch up and anticipate," he said.

The President asked all parties to be careful with every increase in the price of goods and services, because the world is currently facing the threat of rising inflation. Therefore, the President asked all parties to work in detail and go directly into the field.

In addition to rice, Jokowi said the prices of several commodities that experienced an increase were eggs in 89 regions, tomatoes in 82 regions, chicken meat in 75 regions.

"Please regents, mayors, governors often enter the market. Check whether the data is in accordance with the field. Don't be good, sir, there's no increase, sir, prices are stable, sir, I'll check directly. So BPS in the area informs the numbers as they are to regional heads," he said.

According to the Head of State, current inflation or rising prices of goods and services is a scourge for all countries. Indonesia's inflation, according to Jokowi, is still under control in the range of 5.5 percent (year on year/yoy).

"This should be grateful for the hard work of everyone. Let's see other countries and even 92 percent. The European Union is 9.2 percent. This is very high," he said.
