JAKARTA - The organic foaming agent product, which is the result of innovation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' Ministry of Oil and Gas Task Force, is able to overcome water blocking problems in gas wells with organic additive content, which is safe for reservoirs, production equipment, and environmentally friendly.

"The Lemigas Exploitation Laboratory processes porang tubers and plant-based fatty acids as organic foaming agents, which are able to transform water into foam to reduce water density, so that gas can flow and be re-produced," said Head of the Center for Oil and Gas Testing at the Ministry of Energy and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ariana Soemanto, quoted from Antara, Monday, January 16.

He revealed that many gas wells experienced water blocking caused by natural thinning, water breaking, and sand in formation in the form of liquids that collected in wells.

This, said Ari, resulted in an increase in hydrostatic pressure and back pressure into formation, so that gas production would experience a significant decline and the worst possibility that the well would die.

Meanwhile, the Daily Executive (Plh) of the Coordinator for the Exploitation of Oil and Gas, Yohannes B Doi Wange, said that agent foaming compounds also withstand high temperature and salinity and were compatible with formation water.

According to him, the innovation is the best solution to the water blocking problem in gas wells.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources noted that to date, the innovative organic foaming agent product has been further developed through testing several water formation samples, both from gas and oil wells.

"It is hoped that technological innovation will be an alternative to help smooth gas well production operations," explained Ari.
